number of Indian and Pakistani film stars and artists
performed together at a concert on Sunday to raise funds
for victims of the tsunami.
Mumbai, Feb 06: The
concert, called Help, was held in India's entertainment
capital Mumbai, formerly known as Bombay. It will be
broadcast simultaneously on television channels across
the world on 12 February. Coinciding with the
concert, a telethon was also broadcast simultaneously
across 10 news channels in the country. Rafaqat Ali Khan won
the hearts of the audience with the rendering of
qawwalis & songs.
Wagah (Amritsar), January 2
The 11-member delegation of Editors and senior
journalists from leading English, regional dailies and
magazines left for Pakistan from the Indo-Pak joint
check post at 12.30 pm here today. They were accorded
warm welcome by members of Pakistan chapter of the South
Asian Free Media Association (SAFMA) after crossing the
zero line.
The delegation will cover the proceedings of SAARC
summit at Islamabad in addition to attending the
four-day SAFMA conference scheduled to be held from
January 3 at Rawalpindi.
Mr Rafaqat Ali, son of famous pre-Partition Sufi singer,
Mr Nazaqat Ali, of the noted Salamat Ali-Nazaqat Ali duo
will perform in India for the first time in Amritsar,
Delhi, Mumbai, Jalandhar and Sham Churasi from January
13.
